If you follow the Inside BlackBerry® Help Blog, you may have seen a post I did previously about how to identify which version of BlackBerry® Device Software you are currently using. Now, if that post led you to ask yourself, “What version of this BlackBerry smartphone app/game am I using?” then you’re in the right place! Today I’d like to show you how to identify the version of an app or game that is installed on a BlackBerry smartphone. This is good information to know if you are troubleshooting or need assistance on a specific app.
Before we begin, if you don’t know which version of BlackBerry Device Software you are using, please visit the link I provided above so you can follow the instructions that apply to you. Provided you know what version you are using, select the steps that apply to you below:
BlackBerry® 6 & BlackBerry® 7
- Select Options on the home screen (this may appear within a Settings folder depending on your current theme).
- Select Device followed by Application Management.
- Start typing the name of the app to identify the app name and version (for example, BlackBerry® Maps 6.1.0.25).
BlackBerry Device Software version 5
- Select Options on the home screen (this may appear within a Settings folder depending on your current theme).
- Select Applications.
- Start typing the name of the app to identify the app name and version (for example, BlackBerry Maps 5.0.0)
NOTE: If you are unable to find an app, toggle Third Party to Add-On or Core and identify if the app appears.
BlackBerry Device Software version 4
- Select Options on the home screen (this may appear within a Settings folder depending on your current theme).
- Select Advanced Options followed by Applications.
- Review the listing to identify the app and version (for example, BlackBerry Maps 4.7.1)
