A German iPhone 5 microsite demo has been recorded and posted online, showing the iPhone 5 in all its glory, but we wouldn’t take it too seriously

What appears to be an eloborate fake iPhone 5 microsite has been videoed and the footage released online.
The video, which appears to be German and was found by website Todays iPhone, has unveiled what the iPhone 5 will look like – allegedly.
According to the official-looking website, the juicy details suggest the iPhone 5 will be 30 per cent thinner and 18 per cent lighter than the iPhone 4. Accompanying images make the iPhone 5 look incredibly slim.
In terms of the actual numbers, going on the iPhone 4 and the per cent figures we have, the dimensions of the iPhone 5 would be around 6.5mm thick and 112 grams in weight.

Looking at the website’s specs as there are no numbers to work with, it will be 62.4mm in height, 4mm taller than its iOS 4 counterpart.
The website also confirms the rumours of an 8-megapixel camera, a 4-inch Retina Display, the inclusion of iOS5 – a given – and a dual core A5 processor.
If our GCSE German has aged well, the camera will be capable of full HD videos. 1080p at 30 frames per second, to be precise.
Unfortunately, the rest of the specs are too small to read but we can make out LED something and a 64GB flash drive. Maybe your eyesight will prove better at picking apart the tiny german writing so let us know what else you can unearth.
Whoever made this website has a lot of spare time as it’s pretty believable but we’ll eat our hat if it turns out to be real. There are mistakes here and there that suggest it’s the work of an amateur such as discrepancies in the display size (it claims 4.2-inch later on) and some of the images look a little, how shall we say, edited.
Still, fake it may be, but thinner and lighter would balance out a larger display so it’s not entirely unconvincing.
Just in case you were wondering, we followed the URL in the video to see if we could find the pressable space and had no luck, unsurprisingly. The start and end URLs link to the official German Apple website but strangely not the one with all the iOS 5 details…
The iPhone 5, if speculation proves correct, will start shipping in September, which means you can put it on your Christmas list.
