A new mod the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 brings multi-window functionality to all applications.

The hack comes via the XDA forums and is designed to open up the multitasking feature by adding support for all third party applications.

You will need a rooted Galaxy Note 2 handset but installation is relatively straightforward.

Samsung first implemented the multi-window feature aboard its Galaxy Note 10.1, where it was also limited to a handful of applications. It did open up the feature further on the Note 2 but overall it was limited to a select few applications chosen by Samsung.

This is no longer the case, however.

‘XDA Senior Member goddamnit has released a mod that allows users to add any application to the multi user interface,’ reports XDA Developers.

‘It also allows users to add as many apps as they want. This is one of those mods that everyone knew was coming, but that doesn’t make it any less awesome than it’s actually here.’

We’ve spent quite a bit of time with the Note 2. It’s a great device despite its size and the addition of mods like this only serve to improve its overall usability.

The mod itself is still very much in the early stages and the post does point out that performance may vary, depending on what ROM your Note 2 is running. It also says to check whether your current ROM is odexed or deodexed as this could also cause some compatibility issues.

Hit the link to install this mod to your Galaxy Note 2 via the XDA Forums.
