TP-Link at CES 2013: 11ac, New Pocket Router, and More Wi-Fi

TP-Link debuted several new networking products at CES 2013, including its first 802.11ac router and a new pocket-sized travel router.

The 802.11ac AC1750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (TL-WDR7500) offers up to 1750 Mbps of throughput, Gigabit Ethernet, and dual USB ports. The router also has a built-in media server. TP-Link expects to ship in the second quarter of this year; no pricing information is available.

For frequent travelers for who need to stay connected, TP-Link’s new 300 Mbps Wireless  N Mini Pocket  Router (TL-WR810N) serves multiple functions. It’s a small router, with a USB port for charging mobile devices, and it can also be used as a mini server for sharing files and media on a connected flash or hard drive. The TL-WR810N will ship in the second quarter of 2013.

Another tiny new router from TP-Link is the Halo TL-WR706N. This unit is a router sized down to a cylindrical wall-socket mounted device. Halo can reach throughput speeds of up to 150 Mbps, has an internal antenna, and built-in power adapter. Halo is expected to ship the first quarter of 2013.

TP-Link has also expanded its network product portfolio with new adapters and range extenders.

The AC600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter (TL-WDN5200) delivers 11ac speeds to PCs or laptops with up to 433 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 150 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. The TP-Link N600 Universal Wireless Dual Band Entertainment Adapter (TL-WA3164EA) can bring wireless connectivity to Internet-enabled devices. Both adapters are estimated to ship in the second quarter of this year.

For eliminating dead zones, TP-Link will release the TL-WA850RE, a power socket-mounted Wireless N range extender, as well as the new 300 Mbps AV200 (TL-WPA2220) and the AV500 (TL-WPA42200)—both are Wireless N Powerline Extenders. They can extend a network connection up to almost 1,000 feet using a home’s electric circuit. Both Powerline devices can clone existing wireless settings. Expected ship date for all new extenders is second quarter, 2013.
