How to secure the BlackBerry PlayBook

Protecting the contents of a BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet in case it gets lost or stolen is really easy – all you need to do is set a password on the tablet. Today I’ll show you how to do this, in addition to how to protect shared media on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet if you are using File sharing and/or Wi-Fi® Sharing.

Before we begin, the password we’ll be creating to lock and unlock the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet is a separate password from the BlackBerry® ID password that you would have entered when you initially set up your device. With that being said, here’s how to set a password and how to configure the amount of time before the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet locks automatically if you aren’t using it.

Learn More About BlackBerry 7 OS at the Second BlackBerry Community Insider Event

In July, we featured BlackBerry® Senior Product Manager Alex Kinsella to answer questions related to the BlackBerry App World™ storefront. How to identify the version of a BlackBerry PlayBook app or game

If you own a BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet, you most likely have installed several apps and games from the BlackBerry App World™ storefront. Today I’d like to show you how you can identify what version of an app or game is installed on your tablet in addition to how to view the security permissions for a specific app or game. This is useful information to know as security permissions can affect how an app or game performs on a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, and what personal data it shares and stores on your behalf.

How to set up email accounts in BlackBerry 7

If you’ve just purchased or plan on purchasing a BlackBerry® smartphone with BlackBerry® 7 OS, one of the first things you should do is set up your email address(es). (Be sure to check out our other post about setting up BlackBerry smartphone email accounts if you’ve got a BlackBerry smartphone with BlackBerry® 6 OS or lower!) Today, I’ll be walking you through the email setup process for BlackBerry smartphones with BlackBerry 7 OS. When we’re through, you should be able to access up to 10 different email accounts on your BlackBerry smartphone with BlackBerry 7 OS using BlackBerry® Internet Service as well as being able to receive corporate email from a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server.

If you are upgrading to a BlackBerry smartphone with BlackBerry 7 OS from a different BlackBerry device, such as the BlackBerry® Torch™ 9800 smartphone, I’ll also be providing instructions on how to move your email accounts to your new smartphone.
